Research and development, one of the forefront causes at UCSI University received a face-lift under the newly-formed Centre dubbed the CERVIE or the Centre of Excellence for Research, Value Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Aimed at promoting research, value innovation and entrepreneurship as one of the University's core drivers, CERVIE intends to establish the University's reputation as a knowledge creator through four main strategic thrusts, namely Internal Capabilities, Smart Partnerships, Enterprise Value Innovation and Knowledge Dissemination through the implementation of the triple helix model (Government, Industry and University). Consequently, the CERVIE is strategically committed to excellence in its engagement with stakeholders in business, industry, government and communities. The new initiatives at the CERVIE will differentiate between pure research and applied research, as well as provide more incentives to encourage practical applications of the research. These incentives include rethinking intellectual property rights (IPRs) that allow for partial ownership and patents to researchers who have made the discoveries, as well as the introduction of idea innovation, or "Ideation", as a plan to encourage students, alumni members and even those affiliated with other universities to develop research projects and business proposals for UCSI University.

Situated on a 20-acres piece of land, the Campus is located in Cheras, Kuala Lumpur with convenient access to numerous facilities including banks, restaurants, transportation services, entertainment, and accommodation. Fully wireless, it is equipped with the latest cutting-edge technology to access the world of e-learning and e-resources. Housing 7 different blocks, the Campus includes the Student Centre (Menara Gading), the Resource Centre, the Academic Blocks and Residential Halls to comfortably accommodate a student population of more than 15000. Sporting facilities in this Campus include: basketball, badminton and squash courts, as well as a gymnasium, a football field, and a swimming pool. Other facilities include the four-level library, an auditorium, a recital hall, a multi-purpose hall, computer laboratories, residential halls, bookstores and cafeterias. Also available on Campus is an Apple Experience Centre.

Situated in Kuching, Sarawak, this Campus provides a dynamic and stimulating environment in which to study hospitality, tourism, events management, retailing, industrial relations and international business. The Sarawak Campus is strongly linked with the industry's best such as Four Points by Sheraton of Starwood Hotels and Resort Worldwide, the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching, the Sarawak Tourism Board and many more. This ensures that courses run remain highly relevant to today's demands in the hospitality industry to allow for the development of skills that guarantee these graduates worldwide employment. Also housed at the Kuching Campus is the University's Centre of Excellence in Hospitality and Tourism. Currently, the University is leading the Entry Point Project 10 (EPP 10), a government initiative to annually produce 50,000 educated and highly-skilled workers for the hospitality and tourism industry in Malaysia, under the "Education" National Key Economic Area (NKEA). EPP 10 is one of 132 projects that the Malaysian government has endorsed to radically develop the nation by 2020.
