Description

A recent report by a national publication called landscape architecture a “hot-track profession\\\". Nearly every landscape architecture student is assured a job when he or she graduates, and it is also likely that several offers will be on the table. The best landscape architects care deeply about the health and well-being of people and cultures. They want to ensure that development does not damage environmental and cultural integrity. They like to use products and materials that will have as little impact on the environment as possible. Landscape architects take steps to forecast what the long-term impacts of a project will be. There is a wide range of opportunities for landscape architects. Landscape architects work on a variety of projects such as the development of open spaces, waterfront improvement projects, recreation areas like golf courses, theme parks and public playgrounds, or preservation projects like wildlife refuges, zoos, and transportation systems such as street and highway beautification. Increasingly, landscape architects work in environmental remediation, such as preservation and restoration of wetlands. Historic landscape preservation and restoration is another area where landscape architects increasingly play a role. Lastly, landscape architects never stop learning. They seek constant improvement in knowledge, abilities, and skills to achieve sustainable development more effectively. As they learn, landscape architects actively engage in creating awareness of sustainable development among clients, government, academia, students, and the public at large
